Day 242 – Flu epidemic expanding?

While there are new cases of the H1N1 flu in many countries the cases of confirmed flu in Canada and the USA are increasing at specifically high rates.

However, the risk connected to this specific type of flu has not yet been established. Nevertheless, there is a high risk that if not this one, the next flu epidemic is going to be a killer.

This TED talk about the flu of 1918, which may have killed up to 100 million people (and that before the era of air travel) and its implications for possible flu epidemics today.
