Day 189 – Tayrona natural national park
2009/03/17 § Leave a comment
A highlight of the Caribbean coast of Colombia certainly is Tayrona natural national park. There is a nice array of wildlife and wonderful beaches there. I saw butterflies as large as both palms of my hands, little furry mammals, fancy spiders, squirrels and several creepy reptiles. While I am usually not much for bathing in the sea these beaches with their soft sand and crystal clear blue waters tempted me to jump in.
The beaches were nearly empty despite the relative fame of the place. Additionally there are some walks through the forests and of you do I recommend to simply look for where all people are heading (the beaches) and go the other way for a while. There I saw all the animals while of course close to the beaches with its frequent stream of curious tourists are more void of them.
